Mayor Paul Aronsohn said last week that "when the property was purchased, there really wasn't any discussion about preserving the house. The focus was on preventing commercial development on the site and eventually utilizing the property for passive and active recreation."
Mayor Paul Aronsohn asked how to ensure "luxury" amenities in a master plan (Loventhal didn't believe this possible) and about age-restricted housing (Loventhal believes it limits "vibrancy."). He also wondered about a "tipping point density," "at which it's no longer economically feasible perhaps for a developer."
During service, Mayor Paul Aronsohn read a proclamation from the village council recognizing Monday as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and calling “on people throughout our community to recommit themselves to the cause of social justice and to make this a day of reflection, as well as a day of service.”
Village Mayor Paul Aronsohn credited local police, the prosecutor’s office and other law enforcement agencies for bringing quick closure to the case.
“They went above and beyond,” he said of the police. “I just want to thank them as mayor, but also a resident of Ridgewood and as a parent.”
