The case against George W. Bush is clear and compelling: Deficits are out of control; jobs are leaving the country and civil liberties are under assault. On a whole host of other issues, the president has developed a record that defies his self-described “compassionate conservatism” and speaks to a strident – perhaps stubborn – adherence to ideological doctrine.
But the case against Bush rests primarily on his national security record, specifically his indefensible rush to war in Iraq.
